I loved getting to know Kennedie and Blake during these Detroit Institute of Art Engagements. Majority of my sessions are more outdoorsy and out in nature, so it was fun to have an engagement session with an urban feel.
Originally Kennedie and Blake wanted to go to the sand dunes for their engagements, but on the day of the session the weather was not cooperating at all. Instead, they opted for photos at the Detroit Institute of Art. I hadn’t photographed at this location before, but knew it would be a perfect fit. Since the sand dunes didn’t work out, Kennedie wanted something with more city vibes since it would align with the look of their wedding. Plus, these two love Detroit so they were totally cool with staying in the city.
Kennedie and Blake are getting married in October 2022 and will have been together for almost 7 years on their wedding day. They met during their freshman year at Michigan State University and were both involved in Greek life. Kennedie was in a sorority and Blake was in a fraternity.
These two were completely at ease with each other and were so sweet to photograph! I absolutely cannot wait for their 2022 October wedding!
The Detroit Institute of Art is a stunning white marble building in the heart of Midtown Detroit. Kennedie and Blake nailed it with their outfits for this location. They chose neutral colors for both their casual and dressy outfits that paired perfectly with DIA in the background. I loved all the different alcove cut outs and especially the grand staircase. One location, but so many different looks! We even took photos by the fountain in front of DIA which turned out to be such a cute spot! I may not shoot in urban locations often, but I’m obsessed with how this session with Kennedie and Blake turned out!
