I’m gonna let you in on a little secret… the Sand Dunes are easily one of my FAVORITE places in Michigan to shoot! Although it can get a little messy, the sand that gets stuck in your hair and in-between your toes is 100% worth it. Combine the Sand Dunes with the most dreamy golden hour lighting and I couldn’t be any happier!
I was so stoked when I found out Rachel & Logan wanted to take their photos in the Sand Dunes (despite the workout it takes to actually trek up there!). With all of the different scenery options that Michigan has to offer, the fact that they chose this location made me do a little happy dance! Of course I LOVE shooting in the mountains or near waterfalls, but the Sand Dunes just give a completely different vibe. I’m always so amazed at how diverse Michigan’s landscapes can be!
The sun really showed off for us that day, the lighting really couldn’t have been any better! Of course, Rachel & Logan were naturals in front of the camera and made my job pretty darn easy. Having this engagement session with them made me even more excited to join them on their wedding day!
Thinking about having an engagement session in the Sand Dunes?
If you’re thinking about it, go for it!! There are a few things to keep in mind, like making sure you wear something breathable and with lots of movement ‘cause chances are it’ll be pretty windy. Keep in mind that there will be lots of walking in the sand! So I recommend going barefoot if you can, or if you want to wear shoes you can always put them on once we’ve settled in a specific spot.
